Set against the backdrop of the Waterhouse building, the Ice Rink at the Natural History Museum is one of the most magical places to be this winter.
Experience the thrill of skating surrounded by fairy lights nestled in frost-covered trees, with the smell of mulled wine and toasted marshmallows in the air.
Whether you can dance on ice like Torvill and Dean, or you skate more like Bambi, a visit to the Museum’s Ice Rink is a must this festive season.
Book your skate session online to guarantee your place or buy your tickets from the box office when you arrive. Remember, you may have to wait for your turn on the ice if you haven't booked your session in advance, especially during peak times.
Soak up the atmosphere from our Café Bar and balcony.
The Café Bar has a bird's-eye view of the rink and is open daily until the Ice Rink closes. Even if you are not skating, you are more than welcome to pop up for a drink and a slice of cake.
Make it an essential stop during your visit to meet friends and warm up with tea, coffee, hot chocolate and mulled wine. Or take your pick from a range of delicious meals and a variety of wines, beers and soft drinks.
We sometimes need to close the Café Bar for private functions. When planning your visit, please check News and events for any closures.
The Ice Rink's main operating hours are 10.00-22.00. The Rink may open earlier or close later on weekends and during the holiday period.
